Aaron Thesman
General Counsel
Aaron S. Thesman joined U.S. Energy Development Corporation in June 2022 as Associate General Counsel before assuming the role of General Counsel in January 2026. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Thesman brings more than 25 years of legal and compliance experience across both in-house corporate leadership and private practice, with a strong focus on the energy sector.
Thesman has extensive expertise in mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, risk management, and complex commercial transactions. Over the course of his career, he has led or supported transactions totaling over $2 billion, including oil and gas upstream and midstream acquisitions, divestitures, and credit facilities.
Prior to joining U.S. Energy Development Corporation, Thesman served as Vice President – Land and General Counsel at 1849 Energy Partners, where he oversaw legal, regulatory, risk management, and land functions for a multi-asset exploration and production company. He previously held senior leadership roles at Trinity River Energy and Legend Natural Gas, managing large, multi-state operations and supervising teams responsible for legal, land, and regulatory functions across thousands of wells and extensive midstream assets.
Earlier in his career, Thesman was Vice President – Land and General Counsel at Crimson Energy Partners, where he was responsible for all legal, land, and commercial matters, including large-scale oil and gas leasing and transactional work. He began his legal career in private practice, handling a broad range of commercial litigation and transactional matters across industries.
Thesman holds a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and a B.A. and M.S. from Oklahoma State University. He is licensed to practice law in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. He currently serves on the Legal Committee for the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), previously served as a Commissioner for the Urban Design Commission, City of Fort Worth from 2018 to 2025, and was part of the Leadership Fort Worth, Class of 2017.
