VP, Oil and Gas Business Operations

Robert Thaxton is U.S. Energy’s Vice President of Oil and Gas Business Operations with extensive experience spanning engineering, strategic planning, and operational execution in the upstream energy sector. Since joining U.S. Energy Development Corporation in 2014, he has progressed through a series of increasingly senior roles across multiple engineering disciplines and producing basins, developing a comprehensive, end-to-end understanding of asset development and business operations.
 
Robert was promoted to Senior Strategist in 2020, where he played a key role in shaping corporate strategy, evaluating new business opportunities, and supporting risk management initiatives across the organization. In 2024, he was promoted to Vice President of Oil and Gas Business Operations, reflecting his leadership impact and ability to align technical, operational, and commercial priorities at scale.
 
In his current role, Robert partners closely with executive leadership to drive strategic growth, streamline systems and processes, and enhance operational efficiency across the company. He is known for combining engineering rigor with business acumen to deliver disciplined execution and scalable results in complex operating environments.
 
In recognition of his leadership and community impact, Robert was named one of Fort Worth Inc.’s 40 Under 40 honorees in 2025.
 
Robert holds a Master of Business Administration from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College.
